Well, there will likely be one less flight attendant working in America today.
Jose Cerrano, an attendant for American Eagle, went nuts at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Monday after a flight was delayed due to bad weather, daring passengers to leave the plane, if they had “the balls.”
Serrano barked over the intercom, “If anyone has the balls to want to get off, I’ll let you get off! Get off!”
“I’m not responsible for the weather!” Serrano hollered. “I don’t care anymore. This is probably my last flight,” witnesses quoted Serrano as saying.
All this took place on Monday aboard Flight 4607 to Raleigh-Durham, N.C. The whole thing was caught on cell phone video.
The flight was originally due to depart at 1:25 p.m., but was delayed due to bad weather. Passengers weren’t allowed to get on board until 4 p.m. EDT.
Once the flight was finally allowed to take off, the plane became stuck behind 20 other planes and had to turn around to refuel.
Passengers were instructed to get off the plane. At 6 p.m., they were permitted back on, but then the flight was cancelled.
American Eagle, the regional arm of American Airlines, is now investigating the incident. The company has apologized for the incident, saying it did “not believe that the passengers’ frustrations were always met with the level of service that we expect from our people.”
Eventually, Port Authority police were called to the plane as many passengers refused to remain on the flight as long as Serrano was on board. He was removed from the plane, but there were no arrests made.
There is no word on his fate.
Federal Aviation Administration officials were also notified and launched an investigation yesterday.
