On Tuesday morning, Mozilla released Firefox 3.5 to the world. The new version is literally flying off the shelves.
So far, Mozilla's servers are holding up fairly well, even as the total downloads cross the 1.6 million mark and counting.
Amazingly, at one point, downloads were approaching 100 per second!
Firefox 3.5 seems fast to us. We've tested it on a few of our favorites and the load times are much improved. Still, many of my plugins are not compatible with this version so it's hard to say for sure.
Firefox has taken drastic measures since the snail-like days of Firefox 2 and has more than doubled performance over even Firefox 3.
Firefox 3 entered the Guinness Book of World Records for software downloads last summer. In just 24 hours, over 8 million people downloaded the browser around the world.
