The FBI paid a visit on Thursday to Pastor Terry Jones and his Dove World Outreach center regarding their plans to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday, September 11.
FBI agents reportedly spent over 30 minutes with Jones but Wayne Sapp, a church spokesperson, had no comment on what was discussed.
Jones says that FBI agents have come to see him at least twice before ever since he made his Quran burning plan public back in July. He says the last visit was about two weeks ago.
The pastor plans to make a statement later today addressing the visit from the FBI and the criticism he has received from government officials and public figures alike.
In Afghanistan, scores of angry citizens burned an American flag amid chants of “Death to the Christians” in response to the planned Quran burning.
The pastor’s plan has also been openly condemned by General David Petraeus, Attorney General Eric Holder, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama, and even Angelina Jolie, among others.
