The question you really have to ask is, was it worth it?
Rafael Diaz has paid a big price for crashing Johan Sanatana’s no-hitter on Friday night, the first no-hitter ever for the New York Mets.
The self-proclaimed Mets fanatic says he just couldn’t help himself when he ran onto the field after Santana recorded the final out.
After Diaz spent two nights in a Queens jail, a judge finally set him free on Sunday, but his son’s first birthday party was on Saturday – and he missed it.
“That’s the bad part,” Diaz said.
The Mets also have banned him from Citi Field for life.
Even worse, Diaz could also face up to a year in jail and a $25,000 fine for offenses that include “entering the field of a New York sporting event.”
Sure, you missed your son’s first birthday party, but he’ll never remember that. At least you’ve got a memory that will last a lifetime.
So was it worth it?
“You’ll have to ask my wife that.”
