Interesting. Facebook has hired the notorious hacker known as “Geohot“, A.K.A. George Hotz.
You may remember Hotz as the guy who came up with an ingenious way of hacking Sony PlayStation gaming consoles. He was also one of the indirect causes of the hacker attacks on Sony that bought its gaming network to its knees. Now, he’s doing something much more low-key with his life…working at Facebook.
Facebook officials have confirmed the hire, but they stopped short of saying exactly what it is he will be doing for the world’s most popular social network.
It’s nice to see a hacker come clean. It will be interesting to see exactly what his role winds up being with Facebook.
Hotz recently settled with Sony after the company sued him for alleged Playstation 3 copyright violations. He later went on record saying he was not responsible for hacking its Playstation Network and Qriocity services.
