If you were to imagine that Facebook and Twitter were engaged in a knock-down, drag-em-out, pro wrestling match that was the headline event at Wrestlemania, you can now imagine that Facebook is about to drop the Macho Man
's patented flying elbow on Twitter.
Yes, Facebook is about to launch a Hulk Hogan leg-drop on the little blue bird of happiness. This last move by Facebook could be John Cena
's F.U., Undertaker
's "Tombstone", Shawn Michael
' "Sweet Chin Music", or even a Matt Morgan "Hellevator" (nod to my TNA Wrestling
fans out there).
OK, maybe it's not that dramatic. Still, Facebook will try to put the final nail in Twitter's coffin next week...with...a HERRING! Er, I mean, with...the "Everyone" button.
It's a little complicated, but basically this means that you still be able to have an entirely private profile, but occasionally you can choose to have your status messages, links, photos, and events made public and searchable in Facebook's brand new search engine.
This should certainly put a dent in Twitter's armor. Still, if you don't think that this move is a "finishing" move, just wait until you see the next one. ;-)
