There is word this Labor Day morning that several Facebook users have been infected by an insidious new application.
The Facebook Fan Check application claims to be able to show you how many friends you have and then allow you to post this within your page via RSS.
Once you allow the application, however, you are greeted with the below screen informing you that the application is down while the developer is "adding new features."
Once the app is installed, your Facebook account is "infected" and the program will blast out a message to your friends in an effort to reproduce. It will also, in some cases, change your Facebook account access credentials, including your e-mail address and password.
We're still trying to confirm much of this information but, for now, avoid the Facebook Fan Check app.
