What does Facebook have up its sleeve? The popular social networking site has scheduled a press conference for today (Wednesday) to announce the launch of what it calls “something awesome.”
Many are guessing that Facebook will roll out a new, video-chat feature powered by Skype.
UPDATE: Confirmed: Facebook video chat will be powered by Skype
The company withheld details in sending out the email invitation for the event, which is being held at its Palo Alto headquarters, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg said last week that it would be “something awesome.”
The timing of the announcement may be deliberate, as Google has been getting tons of attention lately for its recent unveiling of its own social network, Google+.
Care to guess who the most popular Google+ user is right now? Yes, it’s Mark Zuckerberg.
After failed attempts with Google Buzz and Google Wave, Google+ could be the company’s most successful foray into the social media world thus far.
So what do YOU think Facebook’s “awesome” announcement will be?
