Score one for Facebook. The popular social networking site shut down a Facebook group / fan page dedicated to the “Isle of Man KKK”.
Almost 100 school students had already subscribed to 'Keep the Isle of Man white and free from foreigners' which showed a photograph of a hooded Ku Klux Klan member.
One message written group's "wall" read: "Damn blacks and indians (sic), coming over here taking our jobs - who the **** do they think they are?"
Paul Kane, deputy headteacher at Ballakermeen High School said that school staff notified Facebook and spoke with each student listed as a member of the group.
This type of group is obviously in violation of one of Facebook’s terms: “You will not post content that is hateful, threatening, pornographic, or that contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence.”
