Nothing like kicking someone while their down.
Microsoft inadvertently gave some of its recently laid off employees a little too much severance pay, and is now asking for some of the money back.
Word is, they also underpaid some employees as well.
As an added bonus, the H.R. folks over at Microsoft aren't even taking the time to explain how this little snafu occured. Employees are simply instructed to "call the office" (which is closed for the weekend) if they want to know the details.
Hey, Microsoft. You screwed up. I think you need to take it on the chin this time and let the laid off employees "keep the change" and pay the ones who didn't receive enough. Harsh? Maybe, but times are tough - moreso for Average Joe Citizen than for multi-billion dollar corporations.
