“Looks like the screw-up fairy has visited us again.”
I have that plaque posted on my wall at the office to remind me to keep things in perspective when things go haywire for no apparent reason. Looks like Twitter is having those same kinds of problems these days.
The latest glitch? “Misdelivery of direct messages.”
You know, like when the one that says “Wow, I hate my job. Can’t wait to quit.” accidentally gets directed to your boss. Or when the one that says, “Yeah, I agree. His wife’s a real bitch.” gets directed to his wife.
These are extreme examples of course, but it could happen.
In a blog post addressing the issue, Twitter blames the problem on an “underlying data inconsistency in our service”…which basically means…”We have no clue as to what the f–k just happened.”
One comment that I saw today sums it up perfectly. Hey, Twitter, spend that VC money and fix the bugs. Now.
