iphone apps

Apple showed off its iPhone operating system version 3.0 today, debuting several new features that will come in handy for both developers and end-users.

For starters, new pricing options will be made available to developers who want to monetize their apps.

According to the Associated Press, “software developers now will be able to create applications that have items for sale within them, such as electronic books or additional levels of a video game.”

This would enable developers to sell their apps at very low initial prices like $0.99, but then earn additional revenue ongoing, perhaps via subscription.

It looks like the long-awaited “copy-and-paste” function has finally been introduced as well.

This new version of the iPhone OS will become available this summer.  iPhone users will be able to access it for free and iPod Touch owners can get it for $9.95.
