Ed McMahon, A.K.A. Edward Leo Peter McMahon, Jr., TV personality born March 6, 1923, is dead at the age of 86.
Ed McMahon served as Jonny Carson’s announcer from 1962 to 1992 and also hosted Star Search in the 1990′s. McMahon also served as the presenter of the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes.
Ed McMahon died in his sleep at the UCLA Medical Center. His publicist and friend, Howard Bragman, confirmed that Ed McMahon passed away just after midnight on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
So long, Ed. We’ll miss you.
