So you create a bunch of baked items called Drunken Negro Head cookies and you don’t see what all the fuss is about?
Supposedly, to commemorate the inauguration of Barack Obama (or so he says), Greenwich Village’s Lafayette French Pastry decided to mark the historical event by selling ‘Drunken Negro Head Cookies’. Are you kidding me?
The cookies depict black faces with bloodshot eyes and the usual stereotypical features (over-sized lips and noses). Ted Kefalinos, the shop’s owner) defended his stupidity, er, creation by saying the cookies are not unflattering and were made in fun. He also stated that he has a Cuban brother-in-law, which he somehow figured was relevant.
A shocked customer tells My Fox NY that Ted Kefalinos, proprietor of Lafayette French Pastry, asked her, “Would you like some drunken negro head cookies to go with your coffee? They’re in honor of our new president. He’s following in the same path of Abraham Lincoln; he will get his.”
‘He will get his’? Tick tick tick tick. Is anyone concerned that this could be more than ‘a little fun’?
I really hope this is just some twisted attempt at a marketing stunt, barbaric as it may be. I, for one, am hoping that those aliens that visited us on Inauguration Day come back and take this guy with them. Epic FAIL.
