Dominick Dunne has died of bladder cancer at his home in Manhattan. Dunne was 83 years of age.

Dunne joined Vanity Fair in 1984 as a contributing editor and was then named special correspondent in 1993. He covered many famous stories of our time, including the trials of O. J. Simpson, the Menendez brothers, Michael Skakel, William Kennedy Smith, and Phil Spector.

He even covered the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

He wrote memorable pieces on several personalities, including Imelda Marcos, Robert Mapplethorpe, Elizabeth Taylor, Claus von Bülow, Adnan Khashoggi, and Warren Beatty & Annette Bening.

In addition to his son Griffin, of Manhattan, Dunne is survived by another son, Alex, of Portland, Oregon, and a granddaughter, Hannah.
