Dexter Season 4 Finale: OMG! (Dexter S04E12)

If you are a fan of Dexter, then this is a rough morning for you.  You are no doubt still reeling.

This became my favorite show about a year ago when I decided to rent the previous three seasons and catch up on “the best show you’re not watching,” according to my friends.

They were 100% right.

Going into the season 4 finale of Dexter, we knew something crazy was going to happen, we just didn’t know what it was.

Upon Dexter’s return home after killing the infamous Trinity killer (played by John Lithgow), he decides to call his wife Rita’s (played by Julie Benz) cell phone.

Admit it, as soon as you heard Rita’s cell phone ringing from INSIDE the house, a certain feeling of dread instantly washed over you, didn’t it?

Then we hear the baby crying and suddenly it all becomes clear.

The baby is lying in a pool of blood and the Trinity killer somehow managed to get into Dexter’s home and kill Rita BEFORE Dexter killed him.

What a shocker!  I still can’t get over it.  Rita was such a great character…this was quite a bold move on the part of the show’s creators.

Now, much like how Dexter was “born in blood,” the same can now be said of his son.

What a twist!  What does Season 5 hold in store for us?  We’ll have to wait and see.
