It would seem that Demi Moore‘s frequent Twitter usage put her in the middle of a real life-and-death situation on Friday when a woman sent her a message threatening to kill herself.

Moore was in southern France at the time, where husband Ashton Kutcher was filming a movie. She responded to the threat by tweeting, “Hope you are joking.”

Some of her other Twitter followers saw the message and tracked it back to a San Jose, CA, home. When police arrived at the home, they found a 48-year-old woman. Police officers took her into custody for a psychological evaluation.

Moore tweeted about two hours later:

“Thanks everyone for reaching out to the San Jose PD i am told they are aware and no need to call anymore. I do not know this woman.”

A police department spokesperson said that a “concerned citizen” called in the incident at 4:37am after seeing the Twitter threat.

Regarding the disturbed woman, Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said that she was mostly unharmed but in need of assistance.

“We determined she did meet the criteria for a 72-hour psychological evaluation, and she was taken to a hospital for that treatment,” Lopez said.
