UPDATE: It gets better. There is now video circulating of a Metro operator sleeping on the job as well.
This is not the kind of P.R. the Washington DC Metro would wants right now.
A video has surfaced on YouTube showing a DC Metro train operator text messaging while operating a train. This is clearly a violation of policy. The timing is uncanny considering the terrible accident that occurred on the Metro back in June. Texting wasn't mentioned as the cause of that accident, but a 2008 crash in L.A. involved the train operator text messaging just seconds prior to another deadly collision.
This DC train operator that was caught in the act was suspended for five days without pay.
