david sills

They sure are grooming ‘em young these days.

13-year-old quarterback David Sills has verbally committed to USC.  Sills is a QB out of Bear, Del., who has gotten a lot of attention for his amazing ability at a very young age.

“His skill set is off the chart,” says his coach, Steve Clarkson. “I’ve never seen anyone at his age do what he’s been able to do.”

Clarkson has previously coached other star quarterbacks, not the least of which is current USC starter Matt Barkley.

Last night, USC coach Lane Kiffin got a verbal commitment from Sills.

This could truly set a new precedent for college football recruitment practices, which may or may not be a good thing.

What does Sills’ father think of all this?  David Sills IV says USC has always been his son’s goal.

“I’m as shocked as anybody,” says dad. “I was just talking with friends yesterday about what it’ll be like four years from now when David goes through the recruiting process. I never expected this to happen so soon.”

Sills’ dad says the family is traveling to California soon and will be able to meet Kiffin then. “We’re excited to meet him,” Sills’ father said. “And we’re excited to verbally commit. Hopefully it all works out in the future.”

Madness.
