It’s nice to see that Danica Patrick keeps up with the latest viral videos circulating around the internet. The NASCAR star says she’s channeling the fearless honey badger as she prepares for her debut race in the Daytona 500.
Patrick explained the unusual comparison as she began her first Sprint Cup test with Stewart-Haas Racing yesterday, building up to her February 26 opener.
“Last year, I think, somebody showed me this video of the honey badger, and the commentator on it was very, very funny,” Patrick said. “Anyway, the honey badger, he doesn’t give a crap, he takes what he wants – and that’s how I’m going to be this year, like a honey badger.”
Heisman-nominee and LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu was also dubbed a “Honey Badger” by fans on LSU message boards for his fearless actions on the gridiron.
As Patrick prepares to shift to NASCAR full-time this season, she will need as much fierceness as she can muster.
Is she truly a honey badger?
I guess we’ll find out next month.
