Now that the so-called “Craigslist Killer”, Philip Markoff, has been arrested, ABC News did an interview Friday night with Craigslist’s Craig Newmark.

ABC News reporter Martin Bashir read some Craigslist ads to Newmark and asked if he thought they could be ads for prostitution.  Newmark’s reply?

“Probably.”

He added that if there are ads of a criminal nature on the popular website, he wants them removed immediately.

Bashir then asked if Craigslist encourages prostitution to which Newmark answered: “I wouldn’t put it that way, no.”

Bashir also asked him if he panned on making any changes to Craigslist in light of recent events, namely shutting down the Erotic Services section.

“The decisions we make on our site are consistently based on feedback from the entirety of the community,” he said.  In other words, no.  No changes will be made.

He did leave the door slightly ajar on the matter, however…

“That feedback changes over time.”
