There are lots of reasons a passenger flight might need to make an emergency landing, but a crack in the windshield isn’t usually the first thing that springs to mind.
That’s exactly what caused a Delta flight from Atlanta, Georgia to Orange County, California to redirect itself to Dallas.
The captain came over the PA system saying there was a problem in the cockpit. He said that the windshield had cracked and that the flight would make an emergency landing in Texas.
Passenger Mike Fleming was on the flight, posting updates to Facebook as it was happening and took a photo of the damaged windshield.
Fleming later spoke to American Morning‘s Kiran Chetry about the incident that took place at 34,000 feet.
