You have just competed in the Olympic Games. You've won the gold medal for your country. Millions of fans are going absolutely crazy. You proudly hoist your medal high into the air as the National Anthem begins to play.
Many, many years from now, you will be able to tell your grandchildren that you won an Olympic Gold Medal!
"In what sport?" they ask.
"Tetris," you reply.
It sounds crazy, doesn't it? Well, not according to Henk Rogers, CEO of Blue Planet Software, the company that holds the exclusive licensing rights to the Tetris game.
CNN recently interviewed Rogers as part of the hoopla surrounding the 25th anniversary of the game. The conversation focused on what kind of impact the game has had on the world.
Then, Henk Rogers took things in a whole different direction...
Rogers: I think that Tetris is the first virtual sport. And yes, we'll see a Tetris Cup -- and hopefully we'll be part of the Olympics someday.
CNN: The actual Olympics? The Olympics Olympics?
Rogers: Sure, why limit to physical sports?
CNN: Wow, that would open up a whole new realm.
Is Tetris worthy of becoming an Olympic event? Realistically, it will probably never happen...but it's fun to dream about, isn't it?
