Costco is raising eyebrows by taking a unique stance in a pricing disagreement with the Coca-Cola Company. The company has banned Coke products from its Costco stores.
A Costco exec confirmed that the ban is now in place, stating that the dispute was over pricing, but refusing any further comment on the matter. Coke says they intended to negotiate in “a spirit of fairness” and that Costco is an “important customer” to them. Coke’s current product line includes Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Full Throttle energy drinks, Powerade, Minute Maid products and Aquafina water.
Costco isn’t going to actually remove Coke products from its shelves, but it won’t be restocking any of company’s offerings until the dispute has been resolved.
If you’re a Diet Coke junkie like me, then you had better stock up while you can.
