In 2004, Connie Culp, an Ohio wife and mother, was shot in the face by her husband, Thomas Culp. She was left with a huge hole where the middle of her face used to be. Her husband was handed a five-year jail term for what he did.
Today, thanks to the first face transplant in U.S. history, Connie Culp came forward and made a public appearance showing off the remarkable work that has been done on her new face.
To say that she had been disfigured is an understatement. I will caution you that the photos below are very graphic and disturbing. The thought of someone doing this to someone as beautiful as Connie Culp is greatly disturbing to me.
Personally, I don't think that a five-year prison term is nearly sufficient for what this monster did to her, but Connie Culp asked to meet with her husband privately after the trial and reportedly forgave him for what he had done to her. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we could all do that?
