Congressman Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.) got pretty aggravated over the weekend when he was approached by two students carrying a video camera.
Etheridge grabbed the one of the students after he asked the congressman if he “fully supported the Obama agenda.”
In the video below, Etheridge can be seen approaching the camera as the student reporter says, “Hi, Congressman. How are you? Do you fully support the Obama agenda?”
The North Carolina lawmaker is immediately irritated by this and asks, “Who are you?”
He then knocks the interviewer’s camera out of his hands.
We then see Etheridge grab the reporter’s wrist as he continues asking him to identify himself.
The cameraman replies, “we’re just here for a project…we’re just students.”
Etheridge has since issued an apology for his behavior, saying:
“I have seen the video posted on several blogs. I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction, and I apologize to all involved. Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina, I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse.”
