Former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino confirmed that she’s pregnant while performing on stage Sunday.
During an outdoor set in Jacksonville, Florida the Fantasia announced:
“God has given me this child and I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.”
Barrino didn’t reveal her due date or mention the name of the baby’s daddy, however.
She went on to say, “You are the first person that I share this news with, and I share this with you because I can relate to you,” while adding, “And for a while I walked around figuring out ‘What will they say and what will they think about me?’ But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk.”
Rumors started swirling when she gained weight recently, but her manager said she had been gaining the extra pounds to play legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson in an upcoming biopic.
Barrino is already mother to a 9-year old daughter.
