Can the Facebook craze convert to big box office dollars? Columbia Pictures thinks so. The company has initiated a plan to bring the Facebook story to the silver screen.
The movie, called “The Social Network”, is set to begin production later in 2009 and Columbia would like to recruit David Fincher to direct the flick. Fincher also directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Scott Rudin and Michael De Luca are producing with Trigger Street’s Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti, and Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men, The American President, Malice, Charlie Wilson’s War) penned the script for the movie.
The film hopes to relate the story of Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg as he took the site from dorm room at Harvard to the most popular social network in the world.
