Comcast, the USA’s largest provider of cable television, high-speed internet, and communications products, is in reportedly in deep talks to buy NBC-Universal from G.E.
Details were ironed out during a meeting among bankers for both sides in New York on Tuesday afternoon.
Some reports indicate that a deal has already been formalized with a purchase price of around $35 billion.
Spokespersons for both NBC-Universal and Comcast refused to comment.
NBC-Universal has been rumored to be on the block for several months, even though General Electric has denied trying to sell the entity. Recently, however, minority shareholder Vivendi has been getting ready to exercise its right to sell 20 percent of the entertainment company in an IPO.
Comcast has been among those entities said to be interested in buying that equity.
