Colton Harris-Moore, A.K.A. the “Barefoot Bandit“, has been caught in the Bahamas, just one week after he crash-landed a stolen plane there.
Harris-Moore, 19, was arrested early this morning (Sunday) on the island of Eleuthera.
Police will now fly the troubled teen from Eleuthera to the island chain’s capital of Nassau, where the Royal Bahamas Police Force will hold a news conference. Harris-Moore has allegedly committed several late-night burglaries in the Bahamas. He had previously evaded a manhunt on Great Abaco Island, the island where he is said to have crash-landed the stolen plane.
Here in the U.S., the Barefoot Bandit has become something of a folk hero. He even has a fan club selling T-shirts with his image on them, songs of his exploits, and he even has tens of thousands of Facebook followers. He has been on the run from authorities even since he escaped from a mental institution in Washington state back in 2008.
