The anticipation has been building for months, and now finally the line-up has been announced for Coachella 2011.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a three-day, annual music and arts extravaganza, organized by Goldenvoice and held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California, in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley.
The event features many genres of music including alternative rock, hip hop, and electronic music as well as large sculptural art.
Coachella began in 1999 when Pearl Jam played at the venue to protest against Ticketmaster’s monopoly of major concert venues in California. The show was attended by 25,000 fans and concert organizers picked up the site as an alternative site for concerts.

Last year’s festival drew an estimated 75,000 spectators or more each day. Over the course of three days, the festival attracted an estimated 225,000 attendees thanks to headliners that included Jay-Z, Muse, and Gorillaz.
Coachella 2011 takes place April 15 – 17, 2011 in Indio, Calif. A number of travel packages, including hotel and shuttle combinations, are available as well as a limited amount of on-site camping.
Making an appearance at Coachella this year will be the likes of Kanye West, Duran Duran, Arcade Fire, and The Strokes.
