China is laying down the ban-hammer yet again. The country has apparently now banned citizens from visiting Google Search, Google Apps, Gmail, Google Books, Google Talk, Google Maps and Google Reader. Many Twitter users in China are complaining about not having access to the search engine, but it would seem that Google.cn is still accessible at this time.
For now, services like Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook and Bing all seem to still be accessible.
The massive blockage seems to have hit at 10am Eastern Time.
Earlier this week, FastCompany reported that Google had been duking it out with China over pornographic material that could potentially turn up in Google’s search results in China. Google vowed to take steps to make sure that the issue was resolved in due time.
One has to wonder if perhaps they didn’t move quickly enough for China’s liking.
