Chelsea Clinton is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky, according to a spokesman for former President Bill Clinton.
On Friday, the happy couple sent out an e-mail to family and family that read:
“We’re sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn’t get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc.”
Engagement rumors were running rampant earlier this year, but Hillary Clinton denied them back in July.
Mezvinsky currently works for Goldman Sachs and his parents are former members of Congress. In 2002, his father, Ed Mezvinsky, pleaded guilty to swindling investors out of around $10 million after getting caught up in a Nigerian scam.
Mezvinsky’s mom her seat in a conservative congressional district after one term, partly due to the fact that she chose to vote for President Clinton’s health care reform.
The couple have been friends since they were teenagers and they each went to Stanford. They now reside in New York, where Mezvinsky works and Clinton is attending grad school at Columbia University’s School of Public Health.
