Just one day after acquiring Adam “Pacman” Jones, the CFL has cut ties with him.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers issued a statement on Wednesday night stating that they are no longer interested in pursuing the controversial defensive back.
Pacman Jones had declined an offer from the upstart United Football League (UFL) to join the CFL squad.
“It is unfortunate that this situation became public however our position has remained consistent,” Winnipeg head coach Mike Kelly said. “We will pursue athletes that we believe will contribute to our organization on and off the field.
“We have completed our assessment and due diligence and at this time we will not be pursuing the services of Adam Jones.”
Jones spent the 2008 season with the Dallas Cowboys after a one-year suspension from the NFL. He played his first two seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
