This holiday season we should do whatever we can to help our troops overseas stay connected to the outside world.  American Towns and Cell Phone For Soldiers today announced a promotional partnership to increase the collection of used cell phones and community drop-off locations across the nation.  The two organizations are encouraging consumers to find cell phone drop off locations during the holidays when many U.S. soldiers based overseas plan to call their families back home.

“Cell Phones For Soldiers is an inspirational program dedicated to helping our U.S. soldiers around the world remain connected to their families and communities, which is consistent with American Towns’ mission to connect people with each other in their community,” said Jim Maglione, co-president, at American Towns.

“Through our extensive reach into every town in the U.S., American Towns can help anyone who is interested to donate a cell phone or create a Cell Phones For Soldiers collection point in their community. Cell Phones For Soldiers is making an important difference in the lives of our overseas troops and American Towns is pleased to be a part of this important effort.”

To date, the program has raised more than $1 million in donations and has distributed more than 400,000 prepaid calling cards to our troops overseas.

The U.S.O. is also a huge supporter of this effort.  Their program allows you to send a pre-paid phone card to soldiers in Iraq. This season, do your part to support the U.S.O. and our troops.
