Tom Brady may have lost a Super Bowl, but he’s gaining a brother (-in-law). It seems Boston Red Sox infielder/DH Kevin Youkilis is engaged to marry Julie Brady, Tom’s sister.

Youkilis first met Julie at a postgame party at Patriot Place last year, just after the New York Jets booted the New England Patriots from the 2010 playoffs.

Youk was in Brady’s suite at Lucas Oil Stadium for Super Bowl XLVI to watch Tommy and the Pats lose to the New York Giants.

The couple dated for a year before deciding to take the plunge.

Julie Brady is a schoolteacher with a five-year-old daughter. So far, it looks like the ceremony will be held during the off-season in California, where the Bradys are from.

“He’s really lucky,” a friend Kevin’s said. “She’s a really nice person, but all the Bradys are nice people.”

It will be her first marriage and his second, though technically his first.

Youkilis was kind of sort of married to Ben Affleck’s ex, Enza Sambataro, although the couple never really filed the proper paperwork. Hopefully, things will be more organized this time around.

He’s going to drop the “Ochocinco” surname and go back to just being Chad Johnson.

You see, Ochocinco intends on marrying his Basketball Wives girlfriend Evelyn Lozada, and it seems she may not be to keen on becoming Evelyn Ochocinco.

The wide receiver has therefore told his friends he’ll be changing his name back to Johnson to avoid any issues.

He changed his name to Chad Ochocinco in 2008 playing for the Cincinnati Bengals, much to the chagrin of the NFL.

It was his way of poking a little fun at the league while equally branding himself as star wide receiver that could simply be known by his jersey number in Spanish.

Suddenly, though, Duke began hitting lots of three-pointers. A suspect charge call on Harrison Barnes gave the Blue Devils the break they were looking for.

After Tyler Zeller split two free throws from the line, freshman Austin Rivers strode down the court with only a few seconds left on the clock and sank a three-pointer with no time left.

Rivers finished the game with 29 points and went 6-for-10 from three-point-land.

The Footy Show, which is a show about Australian rules football, aired a segment which has been nicknamed “Footy Show Marriage Rejection”, where a man took to a stage before a live TV audience to propose to his surprised girlfriend of three years.

A spokesperson for Channel 9, the network which airs the program, has confirmed that the proposal was a stunt.

“It was a set up to have a go at Fatty (host Paul Vautin) because it was his 50th birthday on Tuesday. He wasn’t in on it,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Until it was revealed that the proposal was a joke, many viewers were left assuming that the proposal was genuine and couldn’t help but feel sorry for the aspiring groom “Peter” whose supposed girlfriend “Katherine” left him red-faced after rejecting his marriage proposal and running off-stage.

“Ladies and gentleman prepare yourselves, we have one person in the crowd…his name is Peter and he has something he wants to tell you all. What is it you’d like to say?” Vautin begins.

“Ummm. Right happy birthday first. I’ve got a special girl here tonight I’ve been seeing…aaahhh Katherine. Been together about 3 years now, and yeah I wanna sorta go the next step…ahhh ask her to be my wife,” a nervous Peter says as he pulls out a box with a ring inside.

As the audience begins to applaud, he gets down on one knee, despite the fact that Katherine can be seen shaking her head.

“Katherine, will you make me the happiest man on earth and be my wife?” Peter asks.

“What are you doing? You can’t do this right now!” a terrified Katherine whispers.

“Just say yes!” Peter urges, but Katherine runs off the stage crying.

The shocked audience grows quiet as an awkward Peter is helped up off the floor.

“I told my Mom to record it…let me call my Dad to make sure he doesn’t record it,” an embarrassed Peter says.

“Good on you mate, didn’t go that well…ah hopefully it comes out for ya mate and goes good,” Vautin awkwardly says afterward.

The Baltimore Ravens running back announced yesterday that he will retire from the NFL, meaning he won’t fulfill the second year of his 2-year contract.

Playing as a backup to Ray Rice this year, Williams, 34, ran for 444 yards and scored two TDs with Baltimore.

He also managed to become the 26th player in NFL history to reach 10,000 yards rushing.

“The NFL has been an amazing page in this chapter of my life,” Williams said. “I pray that all successive adventures offer me the same potential for growth, success and most importantly, fun. … As for what’s next, I am excited about all the opportunities ahead — continuing my education, running The Ricky Williams Foundation and whatever other opportunities present themselves.”

I guess we all know how that worked out for her.  The Giants beat the Pats 21-17 on Sunday night, so Menounos braved the freezing cold NYC air and got down to business, sporting a red, white and blue Giants bikini.

This was really the best scenario.  Had the Patriots won, co-host A.J. Calloway would have had to wear a Patriots cheerleader uniform.  Thankfully, it seems God is a Giants fan.

The New York Giants had David Tyree making the catch-of-the-year off of his helmet four years ago in their win over the New England Patriots.

This time around, they’ll have Eli Manning’s pass to Mario Manningham.

In what will likely be remembered as the biggest play of Super Bowl XLVI, Mario Manningham pulled in a 38-yard pass from Eli Manning to move the Giants to midfield with 3:39 left in the fourth quarter last night.

It was a magnificent throw by Manning and an even better job of concentration and footwork by Manningham, who somehow managed to keep both feet in-bounds as he was shoved out-of-bounds. The play was reviewed, and the ruling on the field was upheld.

The Giants trailed 17-15 at the time of the reception, but they would go on to win the Super Bowl.

The throw came on the heels of a huge drop by Pats’ WR Wes Welker, who could have put the Patriots inside the Giants’ 20 with less than four minutes in the game but wasn’t able catch a simple Tom Brady pass.

New England punted two plays later.

This may very well have been one of the greatest passes in NFL history. It’s a 45-yard bomb from the 4 yard line that was dead on the money mere inches from the sideline.

Nobody on Earth can pass like Eli in fourth quarter. Great pass from a future Hall-of-Famer and an even better catch from Manningham.  What a magical play.

In one of the most anticipated coin tosses in recent memory, last night’s flip landed on “heads,” resulting in a free large one-topping Papa John’s pizza and 2-liter Pepsi MAX for the millions of members of Papa John’s Papa Rewards customer loyalty program.

Fans who were already enrolled in Papa Rewards as of 6 p.m. ET yesterday will get an email today (Monday) with instructions on how to get their large one-topping pizza and 2-liter Pepsi MAX.

Gisele Bundchen threw husband Tom Brady’s teammates under the proverbial bus following the New York Giants 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots in last night’s Super Bowl XLVI.

The Brazilian model was caught on camera waiting for an elevator as she left the suites at Lucas Oil Stadium.

A few Giants fans started heckling Gisele about Brady’s performance as she passed through the concourse. After initially smiling and trying to ignore the barbs, Bundchen eventually let fly with a foul-mouthed defense of her hubby, and a dig at his wide receivers.

“You (have) to catch the ball when you’re supposed to catch the ball,” she said. “My husband cannot f–king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”

Patriots receivers Wes Welker, Deion Branch, and Aaron Hernandez all dropped passes last night.

Bundchen, 31, married Brady in February 2009. The Brazilian model is thought to have a net worth of more than $150 million.

According to official stats released by Twitter, the highest tweets per second count came at the end of the game – a record-busting 12,233 per second.

During the final minutes of the game, in which the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots, an average of 10,000 tweets per second were sent by fans, beating the previous record of 9,000 set last August when Beyonce revealed her pregnancy at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

Twitter’s previous record high for a sporting event was 7,196 tweets per second at the final whistle of Japan’s shocking upset against the U.S. in the women’s World Cup final in July of last year.

Madonna‘s Super Bowl halftime show saw an average of 8,000 tweets per second over the course of about five minutes, although that peaked at a stunning 10,245.

The 53-year-old Material Girl was still able to move around pretty well on the giant Super Bowl stage, but unfortunately, her music won’t be what people will be talking about today.

British singer M.I.A. generated some controversy by extending his middle finger during the show.

The NFL and NBC were quick to apologize.

“The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing and we apologize to our fans,” said Brian McCarthy, spokesman for the NFL.

The moment couldn’t have happened on a bigger stage.  This year’s game, in which the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots 21-17, is expected to challenge last year’s record as the most-watched U.S. television event ever.

After the obscene gesture incident, McCarthy said that M.I.A. hadn’t done anything like that during rehearsals and the league had no reason to believe she would pull something like that during the live show.

Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, and LMFAO also appeared with Madonna during last night’s halftime show.
