Remember Me

Robert Pattinson's new film "Remember Me", also starring LOST's Emilie de Ravin, has a shocking twist that will surprise you (and it'll probably be a real downer too).

As it turns out, there are several subtle hints dropped throughout the entire movie, but the ending is going to be amazing! The first clue can be found on the official movie poster below:

In the absence of any time-marking signposts, viewers are led to believe that Remember Me is set in the present — but it's really 2001. At movie's end, after having a fight with de Ravin, Pattinson's character takes an elevator to his father's 92nd-floor office on a bright September morning, looks out the window, and watches helplessly as American Airlines Flight 11 hits the building. That's right — Robert Pattinson dies in 9/11.

Showgirls 2: The Return

It looks like the long-rumored sequel to "Showgirls" is drawing near.

A brand-new trailer has gone up for "Showgirls 2: The Return" and wow is it ever NSFW. With enough gratuitous nudity to arouse a dead man, the new film looks to be full of "shock and awe" moments.

The sequel supposedly tells the story of one of the minor characters from the first movie, Hope, who was played by Rena Riffel in the first movie (no sign of Elizabeth Berkley in the new film).

In "Showgirls 2", a stripper dies from a lethal overdose and her brother heads to Germany get himself some revenge.

"Showgirls 2" is written and directed by Marc Vorlander.

Remember Stretch Armstrong? That super-stretching superhero from the '70s and '80s?

He's about to hit the big screen.

Based on the Hasbro action-figure toy, Taylor Lautner will be joining the cast of the new Universal Pictures movie, which will debut in 2012, as the stretchable character.

“In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office. He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power. George Clooney Up in the Air

The 2010 nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards were revealed earlier this morning from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California. The list of Oscar nominees was read by Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences along with actress Anne Hathaway.

It looks like James Cameron's epic saga "Avatar" and the Iraq thriller "The Hurt Locker" lead the Oscar nominations with nine nominations each, including Best Picture and Director for Cameron and ex-wife director Kathryn Bigelow.

In 2009, former Academy president Sid Ganis announced that there would be 10 Best Picture nominees in 2010 instead of just five.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.  Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will be your co-hosts for 2010. This will be Martin's third stint as host, while Baldwin will be hosting the gala for the first time.

It will be broadcast on Sunday, March 7, 2010 on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.

Best ‘Avatar’ Review Ever (VIDEO)

Mike Stoklasa, whose 7-part "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" review became a sleeper YouTube sensation a few months back, has returned with his thoughts on "Avatar".

While Stoklasa says he enjoyed how director James Cameron manipulated the audience with a mean villain and love story surrounded by impending doom in "Titanic", he rips those same elements in "Avatar".

He also gets serious bonus points for describing the Na'vi as "Blue Man Group meet black people."

This guy seriously needs his own TV show. These reviews are better than anything else out there right now.

UPDATE: Punxsutawney Phil predicts six more weeks of winter in 2010.

Don't feel like traveling all the way to Pennsylvania and standing out in the freezing cold to see what Punxsutawney Phil has to say on this Groundhog Day 2010?

The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club invites you to text the word "Groundhog" to 247365. When Phil eventually makes his way out of his burrow on Gobbler's Knob, you'll get a text message indicating whether he saw his shadow (which means six more weeks of winter) or didn't (early spring!).

Phil also has a MySpace page, where he states, "I don't talk much. I'm just like any groundhog, I sleep through the winter months, and eat in the summer. Sometimes I like to sleep in thefreezer, because I'm perfectly snug in there - and it freaks out the family when they go to get some frozen goods."

On Phil's Facebook page, he shares this: "I am 12 pounds and 20 inches long. I have brown fur and brown eyes. I like eating, sleeping, climbing, and making appearances."

The tourism office won't make any sort of profit from the text messaging project and simply thinks of it as a free promotion. Texting isn't the only thing getting lots of attention, however.

PETA has criticized the Inner Circle, Phil's group of caretakers, for keeping the animal in captivity.  They've even gone so far as to suggest that they use a robotic groundhog in his place.

"There's no chance of that whatsoever," says Mickey Rowley, deputy secretary for tourism at the Department of Community and Economic Development. "Phil is a well cared-for animal. I don't know why it's taken 120 years for animal rights reactionaries to even express a concern. The suggestion that it be Disneyfied with animatronics is ludicrous."

"Greed is good." Not only that, but now it's back.

The trailer for “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” has hit the web. We can't wait for the follow-up to Oliver Stone’s 1987 classic about the financial world.

The sequel, which will again feature Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko, as well as Shia Labeouf, finds Gekko fresh out of prison and embedded in a new era where even he can’t believe the corporate corruption.

“Someone reminded me I once said greed is good,” Douglas says in the trailer. “Now it seems it’s legal.”

Retro Rewind: ‘Road House’ (1989)

In these modern times, people, including myself, constantly underestimate the power of a perfectly sculpted and flowing mullet. While today, it would cause you to be labelled as a redneck, or a hillbilly, or even possibly a hoser in Canada, in 1989 it would have given you the strength to beat rowdy bar dudes senseless, score with big-haired eighties chicks whose boobs seem to always become exposed and rip peoples throats out if absolutely necessary.

In the classic blockbuster B-movie "Road House", the late Patrick Swayze stars as Dalton, a "cooler", who goes into crazy bars and cleans them up for some reason. His presence is requested at the Double-Deuce, a place where every few minutes or so people start smashing chairs over each other’s heads, falling face first into the fragile wooden circle tables which seem to be in endless supply.

The guy who "owns" the town has some kind of fixation on the Deuce, filling it with tough henchmen who try to take out Dalton with their awesome fighting skills and sparkling boot knives. The mullet of course prevails again.

In case the movie was not manly enough, Sam Elliott as Wade Garrett, who does the same thing for a living, shows up to help out his old buddy Dalton. They break limbs and faces to a blues rock soundtrack while their combined testosterone cleans up the bar and unites the townsfolk.

After the good guys blow away the evil tyrant with shotguns (oops...spoiler) and a stuffed polar bear defeats and converts the last of his followers, there are no legal repercussions and Dalton is able to continue going on banging eighties chicks.

That is it. If you have people over at your house with open alcohol, you owe it to yourself to rent or buy this movie and let the comedy and mullets take over your party.

Screen Actors Guild Awards

On Saturday night, the winners of the 16th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were revealed.

Quentin Tarantino’s "Inglourious Basterds" and NBC’s 30 Rock won big awards, each snagging two trophies.

Jeff Bridges' successful run continued with an award for "Crazy Heart", taking home the “Outstanding Performance By a Male Actor In a Lead Role” trophy.

The cast of Mad Men won the SAG Award for best ensemble in a television series drama, and Michael C. Hall was voted the best actor in a dramatic series for Dexter.

OK, so Lorne Michaels is taking another SNL bit and turning it into a 90-minute movie.  My first reaction?  Yawn.  This should rank right up there with such cinematic masterpieces as "The Ladies Man" or "A Night at the Roxbury".

But wait - what's this?

Val Kilmer has signed on (playing a villain named "Deiter von Cunth" - win!), along with Ryan Phillipe and Powers Boothe?

OK, it's getting better.

In the sketches on Saturday Night Live, MacGruber is a bumbling counter-spy agent (who looks a lot like MacGuyver) who is usually too sorting through his own issues to actually finish the job.  He almost always ends up getting blown up at the end of each sketch.

"Avatar" has taken the world by storm, grossing over $1 billion in just four weeks on the big screen.

The movie takes place on a planet called Pandora in the year 2154, where humans have started a mining colony that is environmentally UN-friendly.

Still, the Roman Catholic Church is not a fan.  The Vatican has said that the film is bland and overly-sentimental in reviews issued this week.

"Avatar" will be released in Italy later this week.  Vatican Radio called discounted the film as pedestrian, but did add it was "rather harmless."  It has also gotten less-than-favorable reviews from the Holy See’s official newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano.

“It has a great deal of enchanting, stunning technology, but few genuine or human emotions,” L’Osservatore Romano wrote of the spectacle. “Its significance is in its visual impact rather than in the story, and in its messages, despite the fact that they are hardly new.”

“Cameron, concentrating on the creation of the fantasy world of Pandora, chooses a bland approach. He tells the story without any profound exploration.” L’Osservatore Romano added.

Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said that while the movie reviews are just that - film criticism, with no theological weight - they do reflect Pope Benedict XVI's views on the dangers of turning nature into a 'new divinity.'"
