Casey Anthony June 2011An unusual twist in the Casey Anthony trial today, as attorneys rested their case after Casey informed the judge that she wouldn’t be taking the stand in her own defense at her murder trial.

After Anthony’s defense lawyer told Judge Belvin Perry he was through calling witnesses, Perry asked Anthony directly if she had opted not to testify.

“Is it your decision not to testify based upon consultation with your counsel?” Judge Perry asked.

“Yes, sir,” Anthony answered.

That decision leaves unresolved her attorneys’ argument that little Caylee Anthony wasn’t murdered, but rather accidentally drowned.

Earlier today, Casey’s parents and brother returned to witness stand to address questions as to how the Anthony family buried dead pets.

Cindy Anthony said that both of their kids knew that the animals were wrapped in plastic bags and sealed with duct tape before they were buried.

Casey Anthony stands accused of first-degree murder in her two-year-old daughter Caylee’s death back in summer 2008. The prosecution maintains that she suffocated little Caylee with duct tape. Her remains were found in the woods near her grandparents’ Orlando home in December of that year.
