Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton (real name Mark Anthony Myrie) has been in a federal prison in Miami, Florida since Thursday. He was nabbed by federal authorities on drug charges.
Banton was in possession of 5 kilos of cocaine at the time of the bust, and has been charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute.
A surveillance camera allegedly caught him making a drug transaction.
If convicted, Banton could face up to 20 years in prison.
The deejay had received a Grammy nod for his ninth studio album “Rasta Got Soul,” and also finished a successful North American tour.
