The famous material is most-often used as packing material, however, but bubble wrap has found many other uses. Bubble wrap has not only changed the way people ship sensitive or fragile items, but it has also emerged as a new form of cheap entertainment.

Bubble Wrap was actually invented back in 1957 by two engineers, Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes. The term itself is a trademark of Sealed Air Corporation, which was founded in 1960 by the two inventors.  Some people, though, use the term universally for similar products.

Today, there are more than 250 Facebook pages dedicated to bubble wrap, and Twitter is currently bustling with talk of the popping material’s 50th birthday.
