Baltimore McDonalds BeatingHere’s something that really makes me proud to be a Baltimore resident.  Take a look at the video below, which was shot in a McDonald’s restaurant on Kenwood Avenue right down the road from me in Rosedale.

Two black females can be seen savagely beating a white victim to the point where the person suffers a seizure.  The beating occurred on April 18 around 8 p.m. EST.

The problem is that the restaurant staff and manager seem to do almost nothing to help the person being beaten.  The only person who steps in to try and break up the fight appears to be an older female customer.

Here’s where it gets interesting, though.  At first glance, it looks as though it’s a woman getting beaten up.  It was later revealed, however, that this was a cross-dresser…a man dressed as a woman…who went into the ladies’ bathroom and then got his ass kicked.

UPDATE: The victim was transgender and the McDonald’s employee has been fired

UPDATE 2: The assailant has been sentenced to 5 years in prison

That doesn’t make the crime any less heinous, however.  To make matters worse, it has also been revealed that the person that filmed the video and uploaded it to YouTube was a McDonald’s employee…22-year-old Vernon Hackett.

On top of that, at the end of the video, once the victim appears to be seizing, Hackett can be heard telling the female assailants to flee before police arrive on the scene.

“She’s bleeding, yo. Her mouth bleeding, her mouth bleeding! She’s having a f–king seizure, yo! She’s having a seizure right now, she needs help right now! Y’all better get the f–k out of here now!” the cameraman says.

Eventually, the two suspects stop the beating and flee the scene.

On Facebook, Hackett claims that the victim was a male and that the seizure was fake.

“As soon as tha [sic] police came he got right up”

Both suspects were later identified.

A 14-year-old female has been charged as a juvenile. Charges are also pending against an 18-year-old female.

The victim was transported to nearby Franklin Square Hospital for treatment.

So does the fact that this was really a guy getting beaten up by two females help to explain why no one jumped in to help? Not really. What was Vernon Hackett thinking just sitting there filming the whole thing…and then helping the assailants make their getaway?

Interestingly enough, Hackett has since deleted his YouTube channel, his Facebook account, and his Twitter page.

What’s the deal with all these fast food restaurant brawls lately?  Are they increasing in frequency, or is it just that more Americans now have camera-phones?

McDonald’s has released the following statement regarding the incident on their website:

“We are shocked by the video from a Baltimore franchised restaurant showing an assault. This incident is unacceptable, disturbing and troubling. McDonald’s strives to be a safe, welcoming environment for everyone who visits. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of customers and employees in our restaurants. We are working with the franchisee and the local authorities to investigate this matter.”
