Brittany Murphy: Dead at 32

Actress Brittany Murphy is dead at the age of 32.

Murphy’s mom found her unconscious in the shower at her home and placed a 911 call around 8 a.m. Paramedics immediately arrived on scene and determined that she was in cardiac arrest.

They administered CPR on the way to a local hospital, where she was then pronounced dead.

The Los Angeles County Coroner is set to picj up Brittany Murphy’s body from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center later this afternoon and will launch a formal investigation.

Murphy was best-known for her roles in “Clueless”, “8 Mile”, and most recently “Sin City”.

Murphy was in the news earlier this month her husband, Simon Monjack, had a brief health scare that put him in the hospital. She was reportedly fired from the upcoming movie “The Caller” for being difficult to work with.

Earlier in her career, Murphy was accused of having an eating disorder. Some thought this was linked to a cocaine addiction. She denied those allegations back in 2005, saying:

“Wow. No, just for the record I have never tried it in my entire life, I’ve never even seen it, and I don’t leave the house too much, except to go to work,” she said. “My worst vice is caffeine. [The rumor is] really pretty darn far-fetched — it couldn’t be further from the truth. I have known people over the course of my life that have bad problems with drugs, and it’s something really serious.”
