Brett Favre‘s streak is over. The Minnesota Vikings quarterback’s 297-game record for consecutive starts ended tonight.
Favre, 41, has held the record since 1999, but he was out for tonight’s Vikings game vs. New York Giants.
The veteran QB sprained a joint in his throwing arm last week against the Buffalo Bills. He did not throw any passes during Saturday’s walk-through and had limited participation in Friday’s practice.
He seemingly had caught a bit of a break yesterday, when the Vikings had to reschedule the Giants game after the inflatable roof of the Metrodome collapsed under 16 inches of snow. The game was moved to tonight in Detroit.
Brett Favre’s record will probably last for at least another six years, which is how long it will take Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts to catch him, if he remains healthy.
Manning currently has 205 consecutive starts.
