F My Life: It's Funny, It's True, Except When It Happens to You

Feeling a little too busy to update your Twitter account regularly?  No problem.  Just do what many celebrities have started doing - hire a "Ghost Twitterer."

More and more stars are using "Ghost Twitterers" to maintain their Twitter accounts, The New York Times reports.

Case in point, 50 Cent now has one of his assistants writing all of his Twitter updates. According to the assistant, 50 Cent "doesn’t actually use Twitter, but the energy of it is all him."

Kanye West is also using some assistants to handle his internet updates. Barack Obama even has "social networking teams" managing his tweets.

Here's one that may surprise you. Even some "internet gurus", those guys (and girls) with zillions of loyal followers who like to give advice on social media and the internet in general, have "Ghost Twitterers" working for them.

I don't necessarily think there is anything wrong with this, per se, so long as the personality in question has fully disclosed the fact that their tweets might not always be handled by them personally. If, however, people are led to believe that the celebrity in question is actually writing the updates themselves, people could begin to feel misled and credibility could be lost.
