snowfall forecast 20100205

Watch our Snowpocalypse page for updates.

Well, here we go again.  It was less than two months ago that we endured a major winter storm here in Baltimore, but that was nothing compared to what’s coming next.

A new snowstorm just arrived this morning and many forecasters predict that this winter blast will give us 1 to 2 feet of snow, while a few others think we could see up to 4 feet of snow!

Do you know how insane that sounds?  The entire city of Baltimore runs out and buys up all the milk and toilet paper in town when we get 3 inches of snow, let alone 4 feet!  That would shatter our previous record by a mile.

That could actually be the case, however, as even the National Weather Service has now just bumped our forecast up to 30+ inches.  Add to that the fact that winds will be harsh and the forecast for next week looks to be cold, so this snow won’t disappear as quickly as the one in December did.

Right now, we’re seeing some light snow here in Baltimore, and with the temp right around 34′, we probably won’t see much accumulation until later this afternoon, but once that happens we could see snow falling at 2 – 3 inches per hour.

We’ll be here, right through the whole sloppy mess…so stay tuned as we update the snowfall totals!
