Blizzard 2009 Whiteout

You know what’s outside our door right now? A lot of snow. A freakin’ lot of snow.

Here in the Mid-Atlantic, we’ve been taking it on the chin from the largest December storm ever. It’s been snowing since about 9 p.m. EST last night and it hasn’t stopped.

Follow the whole story here: Blizzard of 2009

There may be a light at the end of the tunnel, however, as the outer edge of the precipitation seems to be creeping into western Maryland. That could mean that we only have 3 or 4 more hours of heavy snow left.

There were definitely a few moments today where we literally couldn’t see out the windows it was snowing so hard.

I’ll post a measurement as soon as it stops and the clean-up begins. If I had to guess right now, I’d say there is about 18-20 inches of snow on the ground with a few hours of accumulation left. That should put us pretty close to that forecast amount of around two feet.

We’ll post more later. Time to warm up.
