A police officer who was running radar in Chattanooga got the surprise of his life when a dog, Winston, showed up began shaking his patrol car. Winston, a bulldog, then began eating the tires and also ate the front bumper.
He later attacked other patrol cars that were called in for backup. Officers tried to pepper spray the dog, then tried tasing him, but nothing calmed him down.
Michael Emerling, the dog’s owner, said the family is grateful that police officers didn’t shoot Winston. He said, “In other areas near here, police have shot dogs for much less.”
A deal was worked out in City Court on Thursday morning whereby the Emerlings will keep Winston place of business.
Michael Emerling said, “We’ll make sure that Winston doesn’t get out. We will use a chain on the fence rather than a nylon cord.”
