Apple Tribute Logo 300x277An awesome new Apple tribute logo is blowing up on the web just days after the death of co-founder Steve Jobs.

When Jobs resigned from Apple a few months ago, Hong Kong graphic design student Jonathan Mak Long created a design to honor him.

Long, 19, uploaded the logo, which featured the signature Apple “bite” changed to a profile of Jobs, to his Tumblr blog.

He initially got about 80 comments on the new pic.  Then after Jobs passed away earlier this week, he re-posted it…and this time it blew up the web.

The designer, known as Jonathan Mak, got almost 10,000 likes and reblogs on his Tumblr site and quickly surged to 180,000…in just a single day.

He says the image was a tribute to Jobss contributions to the world: “I wanted to commemorate him. He’s such an integral part of Apple. I thought it would be fitting to include him in the Apple logo.” Long added, “With Jobs gone, Apple is literally missing a piece.”

The artist was inspired by Jobs’ uncompromising genius. He said of Jobs: “He had this vision that he was not afraid to commit to. That’s how he broke new ground. His commitment and belief in himself is what inspire me.”

We think it’s a fantastic logo…maybe better than the original.

What do you think?  Do you like the Steve Jobs tribute logo?
