Going to see “Avatar” this weekend? So is everyone else on the planet so call ahead just to be sure your show isn’t sold out.
Both Fandango and MovieTickets.com have revealed that a huge percentage of tickets purchased online have been for the James Cameron mega-flick.
Currently, 70 percent of all tickets sold at MovieTickets.com and 87 percent of all tickets sold on Fandango are for “Avatar”.
Other interesting factoids:
- 75 percent – 89 percent of all ticket sales are for the 3D or IMAX 3D screenings
- Hundreds of screenings are sold-out across the U.S., according to both Fandango and MovieTickets.com
- 45% say that “James Cameron’s return as a director” was the main draw
- 72% say the positive advance reviews have increased their interest in the movie
Will this movie be a blockbuster? Duh.
I can’t wait to see it, but I may wait until the crowds thin out. Besides, here in the mid-Atlantic we’re going to get buried in snow!
