It seems like everyone under the sun has their own blog these days. How can you tell which ones are credible and which ones aren’t?

Researchers at the Austria-based Know-Center are developing a system that will study the language used on blogs in order to rank them as highly credible, having average credibility, or “little credible.”

The code will analyze at the distribution of words over time and will compare blog posts to actual news articles from mainstream news sites.

“It has shown promising results, we think we are on the right path,” says Know-Center researcher Andreas Juffinger, according to the AFP. “It has to be automatic because it is not possible for customers to label and read all these blogs.”

Another fascinating idea being developed – a system developed by the Nara Institute of Science and Technology in Japan that will provide a more “fair and balanced” view to web surfers.  The program gathers a variety of different viewpoints on a particular topic and presents them together to the user on a “statement map” to show how they are related.
